Abstract

The present application refers to a five-month internship to be carried out at the Theoretical Physics Laboratory of the University Paris-Sud XI (Orsay, France), in the first half of 2017. The main objective of the proposed project is the simultaneous numerical study of all the propagators and vertices of the QCD Lagrangian, i.e. the gluon, ghost and quark propagators, the ghost-gluon, quark-gluon, three-gluon and four-gluon vertices, in Landau gauge. As a byproduct, this study will also investigate the QCD strong coupling constant, by considering several definitions in terms of these Green functions. At the same time, taking advantage of the months of stay in France, this project also includes collaboration with research groups at the Theoretical Physics Laboratory for Condensed Matter at the University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris, France), at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Catholic University of Leuven Kulak (Kortrijk, Belgium) and at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Catania (Catania, Italy). In particular, we will study: 1) the gluon and ghost propagators in the Landau-De Witt gauge, 2) the ghost propagator in linear covariant gauge, 3) the analytical properties of the gluon and ghost propagators in Landau gauge. It is expected that this project will enable a better understanding of the infrared behavior of Green's functions of the theory and therefore will contribute significantly to the understanding of the mechanisms of confinement in QCD.
