Abstract

This paper aims to study an active phenomenon in the Traditional Folk Brazilian Culture. It spans several traditional folk manifestations and it also names the act of practicing some of them: it is called vadiação. To approach this subject not as a factual sense, but as a phenomenon itself, there were selected three of these cultural manifestations: Capoeira, Cavalo-Marinho and Maracatu Rural. To this approach, a Phenomenology pertinent to cultural phenomenon studies was applied, located inside Social and Cultural Psychology fields. As a methodological reference, the Genetic Phenomenology and the Archaeological Phenomenology, by Edmund Husserl (1859-1938) were used, in order to identify which are and how are configured the "meanings" of "vadiar". This subject belongs to the three chosen cultural manifestations, previously mentioned, making it able to understand the changeable and also the non-changeable intentional structures of the act itself. This methodological approach allows us to describe the meanings and its correlated intentional structure, from its corporal and pre-reflexive perspectives until its categorical dimension, in a historic, cultural and socially build dimension. This paper contributes to a deeper comprehension of the Folk, Traditional and Afro Descent side of the Brazilian Culture. (AU)
