Abstract

The concept voice-music, used by Janete El Haouli in her research about the singer Demetrio Stratos, deals with voice in all its potentiality, not exclusively related to a verbal text. In the universe of vocal pieces that deal with that potentiality, two can be selected: the album Cantare la voce (1978), by Demetrio Stratos, and the Canti del Capricorno (1962-1972), by Giacinto Scelsi and Michiko Hirayama. The objective of this paper is to investigate the differences in the treatment of the voice-music in those two pieces, through an analysis of the vocal used resources, and readings about the concept voice-music. By means of applying the knowledge of the analysis, this paper also proposes the composition of vocal pieces, created from a direct collaboration with singers. (AU)
