Abstract

This research internship abroad proposes two different steps of the research to carry out the post-doctoral research currently in progress (MAE-USP), which aims to discuss the use and reuse of spolia in Sicily in the Medieval and Modern age. The first one is a survey of primary source documents required, mainly, they are Norman and modern churches or private building of the 18th century in which are clearly showed ancient architectural elements purposely reused. The spolia must be documented each of them through a data sheet with photos, measures, description e all information about the monument in which it is reused. The second step is the research on the data in the libraries highly specialized of Sicily and Rome which a specific bibliography on the subject.
