Abstract

Historically, the first actions of companies related to environmental management, has punctual, showing insufficient to meet as demands related to the production process. The evolution of ecological concepts of Industrial Ecology, in which industrial ecosystems are conceived similarly natural ecosystems, aiming for greater balance, trade and loss reduction. The "industrial symbiosis" is a proposal for the development of industrial development and environmental issues, to promote a minimization of tailings requirements. The main difficulty for its application is an identification of possible actors and a capacity of motivation so that they become agents of this process. Thus, the general objective of the research is to perform a diagnosis of the companies of the Industrial District of the city of Ibaté-SP, and to identify as possible interactions of industrial symbiosis. The present research can be classified as descriptive and exploratory and methodological should be divided into bibliographic review and data collection in the companies installed in the District, contemplating a formulation and sending of questionnaires in order to characterize the Industrial District and also each of the companies. In addition to results on a local scale, it is intended to identify as typologies of relations between companies and to increase the development of knowledge and research in the area of Industrial Ecology.
