Abstract Kidney diseases are varied and affect domestic cats in large proportion. The metanephros is the third set being formed kidney in the embryonic period and becomes permanent kidney. Knowing the importance of metanephro functions in cats, this study propose to conduct stereology in metanephros embryos and fetuses of domestic cats (Felis catus), from the beginning to the end of its development in order to estimate the number of renal corpuscles present in this structure. This study will assist in the kidney diseases diagnosis, in addition to providing for future research on renal development from different species. The pet market is growing significantly and the domestic cat has increased considerably as a pet. In this perspective, the analysis will be performed of biometric parameters of the metanephros and stereology from the "principle of physical fractionator" with the sample fragments to realize the quantification of renal corpuscles. Statistical analysis will be performed using the nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test followed by Dunn's multiple comparison test. (AU) | |
