The aim of this work is to analyze the strategies of permanence in college taken by students originated from public school, as to comprehend the way they adapt to, and their fruition of the university environment. The theme gets relevance with the increase of Superior Education access by popular layers of the Brazilian society since Law 12.711/2012, which regulated the reserve of vacancies to students from public school. The research has qualitative character and will be performed at UFSCar, campus of São Carlos with students, arising from the public school, enrolled in the last years of the courses of the Centro de Educação e Ciências Humanas (CECH) using semi-structured interviews with five to ten students who answer to the previous online survey. The process of analysis will favor the technique of data triangulation and content analysis. As theoric reference will be utilized Pierre Bourdieu's theory, with focus in the concepts of cultural capital, habitus and field. We hope that with this study offers aids to amplify the discussions about politics and the action of homing and permanence, enabling a better academic achievement by the students. (AU)
