Abstract Self-assembly of chiral amino acid-stabilized nanomaterials is a promising strategy in order to obtain unique physical-chemical properties for the development of optical devices, biosensors, energy storage, drug delivery systems, and so on. Currently, chiral compounds and their assemblies are very important in the field of the chemistry, biology, pharmacology, and medicine because of their structural changes when exposed to the circular polarized light. This particular feature plays an important role for further improvement of biosensing, enantioselective separations, catalysis, memory devices, and polarized light-emitting diodes. Therefore, the aim of this project will be to use the design concept of self-assembly for the preparation of chiral amino acid-stabilized pyrophosphate nanoparticles for the application as (photo)catalyst. The possibility of this internship collaboration with the Professor Nicholas A. Kotov (University of Michigan-USA) will be of fundamental importance for the success of this project. The Kotov`s group has a specialized laboratory and a wide scientific knowledge on self-assembly processes at nanoscale, layer-by-layer assembly, chiral nanomaterials, and hedgehog particles. This study will contribute significantly for the progress of my PhD thesis as well as for further expansion of this research area in Universidade Federal de São Carlos, which has been so little explored in our country. | |
