Abstract This project is dedicated to the proposition of analytical methods aiming the direct analysis of waste electric and electronic equipment (WEEE). The combination of several techniques like Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP OES), Wavelength dispersive x-ray fluorescence (WD-XRF) and Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) will be used for the proposition of analytical methods, aiming the determination of rare earth and precious elements. ICP OES and WD-XRF will be used as reference techniques. Chemometric tools will be employed to obtain appropriate instrumental conditions for experiments (factorial design), data treatment and exploratory analysis. In this study will be used samples of hard disk (HDDs) of computers, which have in its composition magnets made of NdFeB alloy. The analytes that will be determined are noble metals (Au e Ag), toxic elements (Cd, Cr and Pb), Ni and rare earth elements (REE). As a result, the proposed project is intended to offer new possibilities for LIBS application and human resources able to work with modern problems and techniques. | |
