Abstract

This work aims to analyze how the speeches of a nineteenth-century character reflects much of what is in women from a feminist movement of this century. Using base the theory of French membership Discourse Analysis, along with the support of the wording found in the online pages of the social movement Slutwalk is intended to delineate a parallel to how the inscription of character Capitu of Dom Casmurro work (Machado de Assis, 1899) is spoken and narrated in her time. Still, we work with the hypothesis that Capitu present traits and sayings of an woman named empowered and show herself as a character that was not to be challenged by the dominant ideology imposed by patriarchal society then.
