Abstract

Based upon multi and new literacies studies (NEW LONDON GROUP, 1996; COPE & KALANTZIS, 2000; 2007; 2008; LANKSHEAR & KNOBEL, 2007; 2008; ROJO, 2009; PINHEIRO, 2013; 2014;), supported by the theoretical-analytical concepts of design, agency and critical literacies (COPE & KALANTZIS, 2011; EMIRBAYER & MISCHE, 1998; GEE, 1996; CERVETTI, PARDALES & DAMICO, 2001; LUKE, 2004), this postdoctoral research project has two main objectives. Firstly, it aims at developing a qualitative-interpretive empirical study in which will be observed and analyzed, from August 2017 to February 2018, literacy practices and syllabi of four graduate and postgraduate courses that have been taught by Professor Bill Cope from the Department of Educational Policy Studies at University of Illinois: New Learning, Learning Technologies, Analysis of Educational Tech and e-Learning Ecologies. The second objective aims to take the experience from the graduate and postgraduate courses I have taught at State University of Campinas (Unicamp), in Brazil, which deal with new literacies in the formation of elementary and high school teachers, to undergraduate and graduate students of University of Illinois by means of lectures, discussions and seminars together with Professor William Cope.
