Abstract

The occurrence of landslides on the coast of São Paulo is an integral part of the natural development of the slopes. However, the municipality of Cubatão (SP) has a worrying history of the occurrence of this geological process. Anthropogenic factors, such as inappropriate soil use and slope deforestation, can act as catalysts for landslides in areas that already had a natural propensity for the process. The present study intends to analyze the susceptibility of the Perequê and Mogi Rivers sub-basins to the occurrence of landslides by assessing geological and geotechnical attributes in the dynamics of this process, resulting in the elaboration of a 1: 50,000 geological-geotechnical map. The development of this project will make possible, through the geological-geotechnical characterization of the area, a better planning regarding the occupation of the municipality of Cubatão, in order to avoid areas with high susceptibility to the occurrence of landslides.
