Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the maximum growth curves of the tilapia Genomar Supreme GST (Oreochromis niloticus) strain cultivated at different temperatures. A set of weight data according to age will be adjusted in different growth models. The experiment will be carried out at the Polo Alta Sorocabana - Paulista Agency for Agribusiness Technology (APTA), in Presidente Prudente - SP, located at 22º11 'south latitude, 51º23' west longitude and 458.3 m altitude. Tilapia fingerlings of approximately 1.5 g will be grown in three water recirculation systems containing 0.5 m³ tanks at a density of 40 fish / m³. The systems will be supplied with temperature control, filter and ultraviolet treatment. The water temperature of the recirculation systems will be maintained at 22, 26 and 30 °C. The fish will be fed ad libitum three times a day with the same commercial ration specific to each growth phase. Throughout the growth, ten fish from each tank will be weighed at the beginning and days 30th, 60th, 90th, 120th, 150th and 180th after going through a 12-hour fasting period. Survival, weight gain, feed conversion and homogeneity of batches will be determined in each period. The exponential growth model will also be adjusted for the determination and comparison of growth rates. The experimental design will be completely randomized, with 3 treatments and 4 replicates (tanks). The growth study will be performed by adjusting all fish weight data for the exponential model, given by y = Aekx, and the Gompertz model given by y = Aexp (-Be-kx). In addition, absolute and relative growth rates and weight and age at inflection will be determined. The parameters of the curves for each lineage will be compared by their confidence intervals at 95% probability. (AU)
