Abstract

Due to the growing demand for ceramic monolithic restorations, high translucency zirconia was created, which presents satisfactory aesthetic and good mechanical strength. However, the union to adhesive cements is still questioned in the literature. Therefor, this study aims to: investigate the deposition of silicon hydride film deposited by Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) efficiency on the zirconia surface and analyze the chemical bonds with zirconium dioxide, as well as evaluate the shear bond strength test after the film deposition, subsequent cementation and aging with thermal cycling. There will be made 21 square blocks measuring 5 mm in width, 5 mm in length, and 3 mm in thickness. The chemical deposition of particles from the gas phase chemical silane compound on the surface of the zirconia will be in a predetermined time of 5 minutes. A block will be used for qualitative analysis with x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy. Twenty blocks are will be cimented with resin cement Rely X Ultimate (3M ESPE) and stored at 37 0C. Half of them (n=10) will be submitted to thermal cycling and the other half (n=10) will be tested after 24h. At the end, all 20 specimens are going to be submitted to shear strength test in a universal testing machine (EMIC) and the results will be calculated and submitted to the most appropriate statistical analysis.
