Abstract

During the root canals obturation procedure the filling material can remain in direct contact with periapical tissues. Studies show that these materials may cause inflammatory response in tissues, furthermore, to date, few studies have evaluated the genotoxicity of substances in materials used in endodontics. The genotoxicity tests are important for assessing the carcinogenic potential of products that are exposed to the living tissues of the human body. This study will evaluate the genotoxicity of 03 root canal sealers through Comet and Micronucleus assay. Statistical analysis will be performed the Mann -Whitney test (nonparametric test one- way ANOVA). Duncan's post-test will be used to compare the median fluorescence percentages of Comet Assay. The significance level will be 5%.
