Abstract

The development of endodontic sealers with antimicrobial and biocompatible ability to reduce remaining microorganisms in root canals makes association with antimicrobial agents a good option. Silver vanadate nanostructured decorated with silver nanoparticles (AgVO3) is a nanomaterial with antimicrobial capacity and its use associated with endodontic sealers is an innovation not found in the literature. The objective of this project is to evaluate three endodontic sealers (AH Plus, Endomethasone N, Sealer 26) incorporated with AgVO3, in different concentrations (0%, 2.5%, 5% and 10%), through: evaluation of the antimicrobial activity by Direct contact test and cell viability by Confocal Laser Microscopy, against Enterococcus faecalis. Cytotoxicity tests (MTT assay), genotoxicity (Comet test) and mutagenicity (d-H2AX Immunofluorescence), important for assessing the toxicity and biocompatibility of the material.And evaluation of the physico-chemical properties, verifying the surface topography of the pure and modified endodontic cements, evaluation of the solubility, pH and release of silver and vanadium ions of pure cements and modified with AgVO3. For statistical analysis, the distribution and homogeneity of the data will be verified, followed by parametric, non-parametric and descriptive analysis, depending on the distribution, with a significance level of 5% (± = 0.05).
