Abstract

The term repeated measures is used to denote measurements made on the same variable or on the same experimental unit on more than one occasion. These experiments have as main objective to examine and to compare the tendencies of the treatments along the space or the time. The Multivariate Analysis of Profiles is an alternative to analyze data measured in time, aiming to test hypotheses about the average response profiles of the different treatments and to compare them with each other. In this project, the methodology of the Multivariate Analysis of Profiles will be used to analyze two data sets: one from an experiment with rice crops (Oryza sativa) submitted to different irrigation managements and nitrogen levels; and another one from an experiment about the resistance and susceptibility of cacao progenies (Theobroma cacao) to the disease known as Ceratocystis wilt. Thus, the objective of this project is to compare the average profiles described by the treatments in each of the experiments, for each evaluated variable, through the hypotheses of the Multivariate Analysis of Profiles. Therefore, it is possible to observe the application of the methodology of the Multivariate Analysis of Profiles for two plants that translate different cycles of cultures: the rice, which is an annual crop with short cycle; and cocoa, which is a perennial and long-cycle culture.
