Abstract

Invasive species often result in impact to the native species, with possible extinction resulting of this interaction. Wild boars or feral pigs are one of the most important invasive species, as their generalist, opportunist habits favor their adaptation to new areas. In countries where these animals are considered nocive, the economic impact is around US$ 800 mi, resulting from the damage to crops. Moreover, wild boars are also reservoirs of several diseases, some of them with zoonotic potential. The knowledge on the pathogens that affect these animals is essential for the comprehension of their ecology. Therefore, this study aims to describe the species of endoparasites that affect wild boars in a wild boar densely populated area, at São Paulo State Cerrado Savannah, contributing for the parasitological diagnostic. For that, all the internal organs of animals hunted by professional hunters will be evaluated in search for parasites, and the fecal content of the rectum will be processed by coproparasitological techniques in order to determinate the eggs/cysts/oocysts morphtypes. With this, it is intended to determine the endoparasites that affect wild boars in the study area. (AU)
