Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the fictional work of Natália Correia (1923-1993), a Portuguese writer and cultural activist, directing the analysis to the literature of female authorship in Portugal and to the concept of "matrismo" proposed by the author. Through the rescue of this content, the objective is to investigate if this proposal would not be a way for the author to list and consolidate a special form of feminism, in which it prioritizes, above all, gender equality. For that, the analysis will focus in particular on two of her fiction texts: A Madonna (1968) and As Núpcias (1992). We understand that these titles touch on themes such as the freedom of the female body, eroticism, androgyny, incest, criticism of restrictive christian concepts and especially to the concept of matrism, proposed by Natalia Correia, involving proposals of feminine/feminist emancipation authorship texts, so important in the consequent and proper occupation of women's space in literature and society. Finally, it is also important for us to verify the manner that "matrismo" establish networks of consonance with some authors of the newest Portuguese fiction, based on the hypothesis of the existence of a "post-matrismo"feminism.
