Study of cysteinyl leukotrienes participation on the acute inflammatory response in Nile tilapias, treated with Zafirlucaste

Abstract

This research proposes to study and identify important aspects involved in the pathophysiology of the acute inflammatory reaction in tilapias (Oerochromis niloticus), in order to understand the fish defense mechanisms to assist in the sanitary management of fish farms. By evaluating the anti-inflammatory activity of 500 and 1000 micrograms of zafirlucast/kg of body weight, orally administered in the diet, on the kinetics of cellular accumulation in aerocystiteinduced by Aeromonas hydrophila bacterins. To this end, 72 young tilapia will be used, packed in 9 aquariums, each with a capacity of 100 L of water, supplied with running water devoid of chlorine, from artesian wells with a flow rate of 1 L / min. : T0 (control), T1 (Treatment with 500¼g zafirlukast) and T2 (Treatment with 1000 ¼g zafirlukast). Eight animals will be evaluated per treatment in three periods, ie: six, 24 and 48 hours after inoculation, to collect the exudate present in the swim bladder and blood samples to determine the blood count. The correlation between the hematological findings and the cell count in the inflamed focus will allow the investigation of the participation of cysteine leukotrienes on the pathophysiology of the acute inflammatory reaction in tilapias. In addition to promoting technical-scientific knowledge in aquaculture, the findings of this research may represent important advances in the determination of alternative experimental models for the study of lipoxygenase participation in acute inflammation.
