Influence of Acute kidney injury on the development and progression of Apical Periodontitis

Abstract

The objective of this study will be to verify the influence of Acute renal failure (ARF) in the development and progression of apical periodontitis (PA) in Wistar rats. For this, forty rats will be divided into 4 groups (N = 10): Group C - control rats; ARF group - rats with ARF; Group PA - rats with PA; ARF + PA group - rats carrying ARF and PA. The ARF will be induced by daily administration of Gentamicin (100 Mg / kg / day) for 10 days subcutaneously. AP will be induced by pulp exposure of the upper and lower first and second molars on the right side. At 15 and 30 days after the induction of AP, the urine will be collected, for determination of creatinine, albumin, urinary density and urinalysis; the blood, for analysis of the blood count, creatinine levels, serum protein and urea; then the animals will be killed, the kidneys will be collected for histological analysis and the jaws will be removed and processed for histomorphometric and immunohistochemical analysis for IL-6, IL-17, IL-23 and TNF-±. The results obtained will be analyzed and compared by tests statistical analysis for each case with a significance level of 5% (P <0.05). (AU)
