Abstract

Eosinophilic myocarditis (EM) is a rare myocardial disorder in autopsy studies, however with a high incidence among patients in the waiting list for a heart transplant, probably due to the prolonged use of dobutamine. EM can worsen the state of the patient with CHF, because they have already low cardiac reserve. Furthermore, its variable clinical manifestation and non-specific heart signs make the antemortem diagnosis difficult. In this study, we present an evaluation of the impact of eosinophilic myocarditis on patients in the waiting list for a heart transplant taking inotropic drugs such as dobutamine. (AU)
