Abstract

The participation of acyl-CoA esters in biological processes is fundamental for the correct operation of the cell. The precise regulation of such participation relies on proteins that can transport and deliver the CoA-containing molecules. The acyl-CoA binding protein (ACBP) is among those proteins. The existence of ACBP members in the four eukaryotic kingdoms shows how relevant its rola in the cell processes. This project is focused on understanding the delivery mechanism supported by ACBP from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This goal will be achieved though the biochemical and biophysical characterization of the recombinant protein in solution and its interactions with ligands and model membranes. (AU)
