Abstract

Studies involving ichthyoplankton are of great value for management projects of endangered species. However, correct identification of eggs and larvae is a difficult task even for specialists. In this sense, the use of molecular tools, such as DNA barcoding, has been shown to be an effective and resolutive alternative in such studies, increasing its effectiveness. However, in large-scale studies with many samples, the cost of DAN Barcode analysis and the time required to perform the entire molecular process, makes its use impracticable. So, the use of Metabarcoding may be a more affordable and fast alternative, maintaining the assertiveness of the studies. Thus, the objective of this project is to develop a protocol for analysis of eggs and larvae using the DNA Metabarcoding, so that it can be used on a large scale in future studies with eggs and larvae.
