Abstract

Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia are related to the decrease of the concentration of the neurotransmitter dopamine in the central nervous system. In this way, our objective is to obtain SERS spectra of dopamine in the presence of ascorbic acid, uric acid, and other neurotransmitters, such as L-dopa, norepinephrine, epinephrine and serotonin, in order to evaluate the effect of this interference in the process of detection of dopamine. If there is a distinction of dopamine signals in the presence of such interferents, the SERS spectra will be used for the study of selectivity and simultaneous detection of these compounds. Gold (AuNPs) or silver (AgNPs) nanoparticles will be applied as Raman signal amplifier elements, generating the SERS signal. In this sense, seeking to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio for the SERS spectrum of dopamine, nanoparticles with different geometries will be synthesized. (AU)
