Abstract

The present research aims to study the exhibition of the private space, from the 60s to the present time, in the contemporary poetics of some women artists of South America and its transformations when the understanding of this place is questioned by the artists, influenced or not influenced by the criticism of the feminist movements. That is, we intend to analyze the different forms of representation of the domestic environment in the art - that sometimes transits with well-defined borders, others with dissolute borders. For this, we selected works by Brazilian artists Wanda Pimentel, Cristina Salgado, Rosana Palazyan, Ana Elisa Egreja, Colombian Beatriz Gonzalez, Doris Salcedo, Liliana Angulo Cortés, Estela Pareda from Argentina and Maria Acha-Kutscher from Peru. In addition, we are interested in examining how the private space was represented from the end of the nineteenth century and how these representations underwent modifications throughout the decades until the middle of the twentieth century. During our research, we will discuss the works of the selected artists, do formal analyzes and think about the circulation of these works in exhibition spaces
