Abstract

Smoking is responsible for the largest number of preventable deaths in the world, as it is related to the development of several diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, cardiovascular diseases, and several types of lung cancers. The project proposal is to perfect the doctorate's training through the experience that the sandwich stage offers students. The student will seek through this opportunity to update his knowledge, exchange experience between the services provided in Brazil and the service of Barcelona, focused mainly on the area that works, such as spirometry and interpretation of pulmonary function, services provided to patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Asthmatics. We also propose to improve the knowledge of the flow cytometry technique, since we are proposing to add in the research the analysis of the inflammatory profile of the smokers (which will be performed by the flow cytometry technique), since we believe that there is a correlation between the protein studied (HSP70) And increased inflammatory process, mainly IL-8 bound in smokers. These data will add up to the results already obtained in the research, which will increase the relevance and originality of the study. The results of these studies may also pave the way for new research and contribute to the advancement of knowledge about the binomial alteration and risk factor involved in smoking and COPD.
