Abstract

The present project intends to map the debate around the Heterodox Shock that took space in Brazil throughout the 1980s, initially as a theoretical proposition, and finally as practical execution of policy. To achieve that, the proposal will be analyzed in three distinct moments: in the scope of purely academical debate, as the Shock proposition stemmed from a specific modelling of the inertial inflation theory; in the midiatic circle, when the debate reached the public circulation, and had to adapt itself to a publicly convincing format; and, finally, in the governmental circle, when its original progenitors and debaters became policies formulators. With this recapitulation, we intend to analyze the entire metamorphosis of the Heterodox Shock proposition, which was kept in the national economic agenda for a whole decade, since its inertial conception scientific perfectioning until its assimilation as a policy-guiding theory.
