Abstract

During the 1930's decade, the Brazilian northeast was devastated by one of the largest droughts that have been registered. Then, the federal government started to work on a construction of huge artificial tanks of water, called açudes. During the construction of one of these açudes at Macaúbas' county, at Bahia, a certain kind of poesy in ABC metric was created and it was declaimed by the weir's workers. That production tells about the workers' trajectory at the construction of this weir and denounces the insalubrious conditions of work. Starting from this context, this research aims investigate, by an anthropological point of view, the production of life and a collective knowledge from the perception and the relation with the environment, and also an imaginary and a memory constructed around this environment and its changes during the time, with all the political nature's management and its own physical form, the Brazilian semiarid.
