Abstract

Alzheimer's disease is an important subject in public health, because of the increasing incidence and socioeconomic consequences of the disease. There is no consensus on the etiology and all the mechanisms of pathogenesis of the disease, so many studies are being done in this regard. The relationship between neuroinflammation and AD is common in the scientific literature, but not much is known about the association between the systemic inflammation and AD. One of the most established markers of AD is the brain atrophy both gray and white matter. To investigate the role of peripheral inflammation in the pathogenesis, we intend to examine whether there is a relationship between the presence of pro and anti-inflammatory cytokines and cortical thickness measurements and white matter integrity by diffusion tensor image in AD patients, mild cognitive impairment patients and controls without cognitive problems.
