Abstract

The inclusion of new biogas production processes into a sugarcane mill can change significantly the optimal production mix when considering environmental and economic costs of competing technologies and production facilities. A discussion about how variables affect optimal decisions, taking into account environmental, economical, technical, socio-economic and legal aspects is an important issue. This study will set the analysis in the context of wider uncertainties surrounding the problem and its impacts on production rates, process efficiency and environmental emissions. (AU)
