Abstract

The strategies of greenhouse gas reform to hydrocarbons production, as CO2 electrocatalytic reduction, is an alternative with great potential in the production of energy in a sustainable way. However, still are necessary deep studies of electrocatalysts in this reaction that showed suitable efficiency and selectivity, beside the high chemical stability, in order to make this process viable. The Sn and Bi metals have been studied as electrocatalyst for CO2 reduction, however, their electrocatalytic activity and selectivity/efficiency still show differences in reported studies, beside theses show a low stability. The metals deposition in carbon fiber support has been used as strategy to increase the specific surface area, electrocatalytic activity and stability. Therefore, the aims of this project are: (I) Develop deposition of Sn and Bi metal methods onto carbon fiber, (II) Characterize the structural and morphological properties of electrocatalysts obtained, (III) Evaluate the electrocatalytic activity, selectivity and stability of Sn and Bi electrocatalysts in CO2 reduction reaction.
