Abstract

The main goal of this Project is the study of integrated photonics devices, based on the thermos-optic effect. The student will study the basic properties of waveguides, and afterwards a numerical study on the effect of a temperature profile on the properties of a mode's propagation on the guide will be made. Experimentally, the student will build a temperature stabilizer and control system for a photonic chip, then the student will do the characterization of devices already built in our lab, named Photonic Heaters.
