Abstract

Many efforts have been made to investigate past changes of the ocean environment due to the current concern with global climate changes multiproxies analyses (sedimentological, geochemical and paleontological) are commonly applied by these studies, and stable isotopes (d18O and d13C) analyses on benthic foraminifera is widely applied in paleoceanographic reconstructions. The objective of the present project is the use of stable isotopes analysis on benthic foraminifera of a core, collected in the upper slope of the Santos Basin, southeastern Brazilian continental margin. The stable isotopes analysis will carry out at the Centre de Recherche et d'Enseignement Geosciences de l'Environnement - CEREGE, Aix-en-Provence, France, which is, an internationally acknownledged center in paleoclimate research.
