Abstract

A new scenario has been created from the Arouca law in 2009 on as for animal utilization in teaching and research activities. Nowadays, Universities are searching for alternative methods to put togheter a quality teaching in veterinary medicine with a rational applyance of animals and their welfare demmanded by law. The objective of this study is to analyze, biomechanically, the skin of dogs´ corpses prepared with ethylic alcohol and curing salt, aiming the veterinary surgery practice and the veterinary medicine students' evaluation about the quality of dieresis and synthesis of the skin of cadavers, comparing them to fresh animals. Thus, we aim to consolidate the utilization of chemically prepared cadavers as na alternative method to veterinary surgery teaching, with no academic disadvantage. (AU)
