Abstract

This proposal establishes an elaborated framework to evaluate the performance of dense deployments of machines operating under ultra reliable communication regime. Machine type communication requires uninterrupted availability of radio links even at minimum quality, and such systems are said Ultra Reliable Communication (URC). In fact, legacy and current systems do not implement URC which requires pre determined quality levels to be guaranteed for nearly 100% of the connection time. For instance, URC applications encompass industrial automation, smart grid protection, and autonomous vehicular communication scenarios among others. These emerging applications transmit critical information by means of short packets, with stringent latency a very high reliability. This proposal assesses the performance of such machine type communication networks operating in ultra reliable regime and 5G radio access technology. We consider computational simulations using the Monte Carlo approach to evaluate scenarios with strict latency requirements (lower or equal to 10ms). We will develop models (computational and analytical) to capture and identify relevant features which affect the performance of the systems under investigation, as well as propose algorithm to cope with shortcomings and enable URC.
