Abstract

The cultivation of sugarcane as a raw material for the ethanol production has increased considerably in Brazil and in the rest of the world in the last years. The growing demand for the increase of the sugarcane production has led producers to seek alternatives to improve productivity using, many times, excessive amounts of pesticides and fertilizers. The effects caused to terrestrial ecosystem by the excessive pesticides and fertilizers applied into soil are the most neglected, especially in tropical and or subtropical countries. Hence, the goal of this proposal is to evaluate the effects of the pesticides and the vinasse used as fertilizer, to soil organisms on tropical conditions of exposure (natural soil and conditions of temperature, humidity and luminosity appropriated). Obtained data is going to be used to help on the decision of the experimental design for the definitive experiments of the Thematic Project 2015/187903, understand the effects caused to soil organisms and help on the extrapolation of the results to the terrestrial ecosystem. Data will yet contribute to the Environmental Risk Assessment of terrestrial compartments in tropical regions, which is currently and wrongly done using data from temperate regions, especially Europe.
