Abstract

This research project aims to study the permanence processes of the marginalized population, that is, the one that was displaced by the legislation, in the central perimeter of the city of São Paulo, according to the Codes of Postures and Sanitaries that were in force between the years of 1886 and 1936. The various urban reform projects applied to the studied environment proposed the gradual removal of the lower layers of the population, as well as activities that would make them remain in the city center, in order to attract other more affluent social groups to the area, especially The commercial perimeter. In this project we intend to demonstrate the various forms of resistance, legal or not, that kept these layers in full circulation and living in the central perimeter, using for this purpose several documentary and cartographic sources; as well as making use of the Geographic Information System (GIS) applied to the study of the History of urbanization and urbanism to support the arguments proposed here.
