Abstract

The study of Maternal Near Miss (NMM) and "potentially life-threatening conditions" (PLTC) consist on the analysis of the parameters of the woman who almost died but survived severe complications during pregnancy, delivery and puerperium. Thus, their study may help reduce maternal mortality. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a serious disease that affects mainly women in their fertile phase. Thus, it can be determinant of the aggravation of the maternal and neonatal health conditions. This study intends to study MNN and PLTC in pregnant women with SLE who were attended at a referral hospital in São Paulo. It will be a cross-sectional descriptive study analyzing all the pregnant women with SLE treated at the Hospital São Paulo - Escola Paulista de Medicina over a period of 10 years (2005 to 2015), evaluating parameters that determined MNM and PLTC according to World Health Organization (WHO) criteria and comparing socio-demographic, clinical and obstetrics data among patients with SLE with and without NMM and PLTC. The study of MNM and PLTC cases in SLE patients may be useful for the early diagnosis of these situations and consequent improvement in maternal and fetal care. (AU)
