Abstract

It is intended, in this research, to analyze the progress of fact-checking as a journalistic practice, especially in digital journalism, and how the internet has accelerated its development. It is assumed that journalism should be constantly rethought and the fact-checking practice reinforces methods of scrutiny and research of traditional journalism, escaping from the possible self-indulgence of digital and everyday journalism that don't really investigate facts. For this research, we'll use general theoretical approaches about journalistic practices for base, as Nelson Traquina, Nelia R. Del Bianco (2004), and more specific ones, as Lucas Graves (2013). In addition, we will also talk to the directors of fact-checking agencies like Agência Lupa and Aos Fatos. (AU)
