Abstract

Offshore wind energy is an alternative renewable energy source that has advantages over onshore power generation. However, the scarcity of oceanographic database available for the region and measurements of ocean winds, limits the development of studies and projects for the installation of marine wind turbines in Brazil. It is the objective of this research to present a study, through statistical analysis, of the databases available from the collection of buoys, satellite data and numerical model data, in order to promote dissemination and knowledge about the offshore wind resource in the coast of southeastern Brazil. The final product of this project is the understanding of the databases available to the region regarding the differences presented between them and promote the results achieved and the knowledge that have been obtained from the analyzes carried out. This product can contribute to both the improvement of available wind data and the planning and investment of offshore wind turbine installation in Brazil. (AU)
