Abstract

It is commonplace, in the historiography that deals with the city of São Paulo, the narrative that says that the the city has undergone major spatial changes, especially throughout the 20th century. However, the understanding of the social impacts of these reconfigurations is often overlooked in the few studies dealing with the spatial reconfigurations of São Paulo. This research Scientific Initiation seeks to investigate the transformations through which the area of the Sé, in the city of São Paulo passed, advancing beyond the formal aspect. Attempting to the Processes that trigger such operations, as well as Persons who have been affected by such block demolitions in the central territory of Sao Paulo. To do so, we will focus on two moments: the implantation of Praça da Sé, In the years 1910, and also the connection between Clévis Bevillacqua Square and the Cathedral, in during the construction of the São Paulo subway. With this, we will produce a history of (non-) preservation, which can also be seen as a social contribution to the urban history of the city of São Paulo. (AU)
