Abstract

The mismatch in lipid metabolism is common in cirrhotic patients and is associated with the appearance of several complications, such as the formation of atheromatous plaques. Such plaques, high in cholesterol and resulting from inflammatory process and fibrotic reaction, are often found in carotid arteries, visualized on panoramic radiographs. Thus, the visualization of radiopaque structures that suggest carotid atheromas may be essential for early diagnosis and medical treatment. Thus, this study aims to detect suggestive images of atheromatous plaques on panoramic radiographs of cirrhotic patients in a transplant row. (AU)
