Abstract

In a previous endeavor, Neto (2016, 2017a, 2017b) started the definition and the operationalization of a musical construct called ''Intervallic Awareness''. This construct came to serve as reference for the ability individuals have to recognize and manipulate melodic intervals, regardless of the harmonic and melodic context they might be inserted. As a way to enable future investigations, the Intervalic Awareness Test was created and evaluated according to aspects such as criterion validity, construct validity and reliability. Even though the test has been validated, the process of construct definition and operationalization could not be considered as finished. The present work proposes a continuation of this investigative processes throughout the realization of Confirmatory and Exploratory Factor Analysis over the Intervallic Awareness Test. The statistical investigation of the factors that are being underlined by the test may enable further comprehension of the Intervallic Awareness Construct. (AU)
