Abstract

In this position, the applicant will begin an historical investigation into the form and content of the discussions which led the OIT to adopt the concept of Decent Work at the beginning of the twenty first century. In the time since, the concept has been enshrined by the aforementioned organization as a guiding principle behind its various actions and programs which, through working with other international organizations and the international community, seek to fulfill the OIT's institutional purpose: the fight to end exploitation of human beings by other human beings, in the context of labor relations. The student researcher will be responsible for gathering information, organizing and analyzing documents (especially official documents published by the OIT) and bibliographic texts relating to the proposals, discussions, and deliberations which culminated in the OIT's adoption of the concept of Decent Work, as defined by the same OIT in whose internal deliberations the concept was formed.
