Abstract

Gonyleptoidea is one of the most numerous superfamily of Laniatores, with about 2.000 species distributed by the neotropical region. Recently Cryptogeobiidae has been described as part of Gonyleptoidea, with approximately 50 species. After the new organization and the creation of the new family, many groups need revisions to provide support and establish their relationship. This study aims to review the genusCamarana (Gonyleptoidea: Cryptogeobiidae) to test their monophyly, establish relationships among species through a cladistic analysis and to describe possible new species/genera. The revision becomes essential since it was never performed for the genus and the new phylogenetic proposal of the family indicates that Camarana is paraphyletic. (AU)
