Abstract

The objetive of this investigation is to analyse the familiar relations and of kinship of the population slave and frees of the inland revenues of the Province of Popayán, in the New Granada (Colombia), between 1780 and 1852, carrying in account the relations to be able to, dominator and social hierarchies, racial and of own gender of the slave institution. For this, our attention will be in groups of pertaining slaves to the two influential families of the province of Popayán: the family Arboleda and the family Mosquera. Looking for problematize the relations of these groups of slaves in the dumped of the 18th century for the 19th century, will makes crosses of several sources, such as: inventories, parish archives, writings of sales of slaves, letters of freedom and censuses of population, to understand the formation of their relationships; the characteristics of different family forms or kinship and its stability; the formation of their identities from key values on the family; conservation and signification of their own African traditions; and the importance of the family slave as a strategy of survival, freedom and resistance to slavery.
