Abstract

Our lab aim is the study of mitochondria biogenesis in yeast. Here we propose to study the formation of the mitoribosome exit tunnel and the impact of protein extensions of ribosome proteins not present in other types of ribosomes, and therefore unique of the mitoribosome. After the generation of new alleles we will test them in the respective null mutants checking for respiratory and translational capacity. At the end we would like to obtain information about the formation of mitoribosome intermediates, which can provide new informations about the role of these unique extensions on mitoribosome assembly.
