Abstract

The study of the different perception of healthcare professionals about an illness is often neglected. Few studies have been realized about the subject, despite being very important, because interestingly, studies analyzing the perception of illness between patients and physicians suggests that difference in understanding may lead to difficulties in the treatment. It can be said that, from studies carried out on other diseases, in the case lupus erythematosus and systemic sclerosis suggest that physicians, even within the same hospital hold different views. These aspects have never been evaluated in neurological diseases, including MS. The hypothesis of this research, is that even in a tertiary reference hospital for complex diseases, neurologists of the same service evaluate MS differently. This study will involve two stages, being the first the validation of the international scale IPQ-R HP, which assesses the perception of a disease by healthcare professionals, and this process will be based on a guide of cross cultural adaptation of scales. After the validation of the questionnaire, UNIFESP neurologists who will participate in the study, will receive some clinical cases of patients with multiple sclerosis. From these cases, they should complete the questionnaires with their impressions. Afterwards, a statistical study will be done with the answers obtained in order to investigate the possible differences of perception among physicians belonging to the same institution (AU)
