Abstract The glycopeptide antibiotics are a class of antimicrobians that is shown as a great alternative for the treatment of some resistant baterial strains. Some studies found in literature relating vancomycin (first generation glycopeptide) and analytical methodologies shows effective proposals for the quantification, however, we can see a supremacy of use of toxic solvents, that allows the generation of waste, that can be harmful to the environment, operator and reduce the half life of the materials used in the analysis. In this way, it is proposed three analytical methods for the quantitative analysis of vancomycin in lyophilized powder for injection, using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), infrared spectrophotometry and turbidimetric analysis. The proposal of this project is to develop and validate analytical mathods, objectifying innovator methods, quickly an using solvents of low toxicity, minimizing, in this way, the toxic actions to the operators as well as waste for the environment, following the Green Chemistry principles.
